Eastern Beauty
東方美人
Eastern Beauty Oolong (Dong Feng Mei Ren 東方美人) is from Hsinchu County in northwestern Taiwan. It is also called White-haired Oolong ( Bai-hao Wu Long 白毫烏龍) due to its young leaves with tiny white hairs.
The young leaves are intentionally allowed to be bitten by leaf-hoppers. The chemical reaction causes a sweetness in the leaves. The leaves are then hand-plucked and highly oxidized. This evokes a very smooth mouthfeel, with notes of peaches and nectarines, a honey-like sweetness and a scent of orchid. This is a very high quality tea and is absolutely delicious!
